Famed Double Amputee Runner Charged With Assault

The Paralympian star was arrested Saturday night during a function at his house in a golf estate near Pretoria.

Pistorius, 22, said in a statement that he asked the woman to leave the party. Unhappy with this, she began kicking the door which broke, injuring her.

"I categorically deny that I in any way assaulted," the woman, Pistorius said.

Pistorius, nicknamed the Blade Runner, had his legs amputated below the knee when he was 11 months old because he had no fibulas, but he became one of the world's top disabled athletes.

Last year, he won a legal battle to be able to compete against able-bodied athletes after an appeals court overturned objections by the IAAF that his carbon-fiber prosthetic racing blades could give him an unfair advantage.
